Fire Brigade

Look who visited Reception and Nursery today!

As part of their topic - People Who Help Us, Reception and Nursery had a real treat! We learnt all about the equipment and dangers that our brave fire fighters face.

We had the chance to explore the fire engine to find out what equipment is taken to emergencies, had the chance to squirt water using the hoses, tried on the fire helmets which was very heavy and even climbed aboard and sat in the fire engine! The siren was very loud and we had to cover our ears! We also had a talk about what fire fighters wear and looked at the breathing equipment which they have to use when entering a burning building!

We even saw what happens when someone phones 999 as the fire fighters were called to an emergency and had to leave us in a rush! We were very happy when they came back afterwards to continue their visit to our school!

We had so much fun and would like to thank the fantastic fire fighters at Heanor Fire Station for coming to visit us. We think you are all heroes and do the most amazing job!!
