Reception are so lucky to have two parents who are nurses and both came in on different days to help us learn about what nurses do to help us!

Johanne came in during our first week to tell us about what it is like being a nurse. She brought in all her nurses equipment such as a stethoscope and blood pressure which were pink as that's her favourite colour!! The children enjoyed exploring this equipment and then watched carefully about how to use bandages!

At the end of our second week Lisa came into our class with Debbie who is a colleague from the minor injuries unit at Ripley Hospital. We couldn’t believe all the items they had bought for the children to explore such as oxygen masks, syringes, bandages, gloves and x-rays! The children loved using the bandages on their friends and some children even put bandages on Miss Panayiota and Lisa! Lisa and Debbie have very kindly left all the resources they brought in for our own ‘Coppice Hospital’ role play area! Thank you so much! The children are now busily decorating some pictures to be put in the waiting room in the minor injuries unit at Ripley Hospital. So if you happen to go look out for our masterpieces!

We would like to thank Johanne, Lisa and Debbie for coming into school and helping us with our learning about nurses! The children have really enjoyed these visits and have learnt so much and we now have lots of budding doctors and nurses in our Coppice Hospital role play area.
